Guys collecting a disputed debt is never black and white. Just because they owe it, doesn’t mean they are going to pay it- it is all about your argument being better than theirs. We were given an $800 debt to collect this week from a tender writer- he was engaged for 4 hours to write a tender proposal for a large company who were trying to get government work- tender was written, person at the company who engaged him was happy, but they were unsuccessful in their application- company blamed the tender writer, they refused to pay. First thing I did was email the contact, the contacts boss and the contacts boss’s boss, the director of the company, attaching all the emails between the parties- one in particular from contact to my client was effusive in his praise and cc’ing him into an email to their accounts team confirming the $800 fee was approved. In my email to them I simply stated the facts- he was engaged, price was approved, person who engaged him was happy, time to pay up fellas! I explained that if it went to court he would win every day of the week- 3 hours later, receipt for payment. Facts are facts for a reason- they are indisputable and provided you have proof of your argument being stronger than theirs, you will get paid. Cheers
